Workshop Summary:

Freedom Factory is a project delivered over 12 weeks to children aged 5 - 11.

Freedom Foundation uses the creative arts to help children recognise the importance of a safe and healthy mental use of social media. This programme enables children to explore their own emotions and the opportunity to explore their individuality and appreciate their self-worth.

Delivered as after school programs during the school year these 90-minute sessions are an introduction to working within the creative industry, encouraging kindness and understanding whilst providing a sense of inclusion and belonging.

Our previous work delivering our test program has shown an increase in energy levels, and an improved state of mind.

Using music and movement to inspire children to be active, our sessions are energetic and fun and provide a positive end to the school day. With the introduction to song writing, children are given the opportunity to express their feelings and emotions through creative writing.

Each child will be given their very own Freedom Factory jotters filled with positive affirmations, to develop their writing skills and encourage self-expression. Along with the use of props and by assuming a “stage name”, the children can choose to be whoever they want to be within a safe space, free from judgement or ridicule when performing.

In meeting our aims the sessions will include a basic understanding of social media and mobile phone usage. Highlighting the dangers whilst educating the children about the many positive ways digital technology can be used within the creative industry. Themes will include group dynamics, kindness and understanding, bullying, friendship and fairness. By embedding these themes Affirmations of positivity are key to our sessions, and a chance for the children to believe they can achieve, and that creativity creates possibilities.

I am kind, I belong

Everybody hear my song

Come along, you can see

It’s ok to be”
