Workshop Summary:
A MASSIVELY POPULAR PROJECT- CHILDREN COLLECT PLASTIC WATER AND DRINKS BOTTLES OF ALL SHAPES AND SIZES- LEARN ABOUT CREATIVE WAYS TO REUSE MATERIALS. IDEAL FOR YEARS 2 and 3 UPWARDS/ TEACHER INSET.
Working with schools and supporting their pupils to create stunning, meaningful, bespoke art work is our mission! At the end of this workshop we will have helped to produce beautiful, cascading spiral and flower type hanging sculptures OR stunning 'fields' of funky flowers attached to brightly painted display boards around the school site.
Painted Plastic Bottle Flowers and Spiral Sculptures Workshop:
Kat will guide teachers and pupils through the creation of wonderful imaginary flower and spiral sculptures using a range of techniques and artistic vocabulary.
Artists such as Dale Chihuly will be referenced. When completed our experienced artists would combine the individually created flowers and produce eye catching, collaborative, cascading sculptures to be installed in a suitable space in the school building.
Smaller more personal hanging sculptures could also be produced for each class or year group.
Messages of hope, thanks and remembrance could also be displayed within the sculptures, and added to as time goes by.
Painted Plastic Bottle Flower Fields:
Delivered in the same way as option 1, but the Arts Generation team would combine the individually created, imaginary sculptures to create a collaborative field of fabulous flowers. Every pupil’s flower sculpture will be attached to a series of larger vivid, painted panels which when combined and hung together they would resemble an impacting David Hockney Painting. Alternatively, the flower panels could be located in different areas of the school. Messages of hope, thanks and remembrance could also be displayed within the panels, and added to as time goes by.

Testimonials:
“I really liked working together to make something special for the school.”
— Year 1 pupil at Putney High School
”We really liked working with Kat because it was really fun and we learned lots of new skills like paintbrush work from a real artist. It is really cool that it is all the girls’ shared work that is up for everybody to see.”
— Year 3 Pupil at Putney High School
”I thoroughly enjoyed having the Artist in Residence in school. Our class cut tiles and stuck them on. It was fun to use different skills and we enjoyed seeing the finished mosaics.”
— Year 6 pupil at Putney High School
”Under Kat’s guidance, the children drew, printed, designed and painted a striking six panel removable mural, using the National Gallery’s Take One Picture as a starting point . . . and are justly proud of their individual contributions.”
